A New Hope

Well, after a fair amount of time ignoring this site, I've decided to link my university webpage to it. While I have absolutely no expectation of an increased readership as a result, this minor modification has motivated me to, you know, actually do another post. There're now some links in the top right corner, one of them goes to a wikispace with all of my writing. Feel free to follow, criticize harshly, and enjoy. Meh, I'm bored talking to myself now.

Mundane life commentary

I'm not really sure why I feel compelled to write this. Nothing has really happened since my first post, and no one has read any of this. I guess just knowing this site exists makes me want to write in it, which is fair enough I suppose. Maybe I'll post some pictures later tonight to make me feel as if I've actually done something interesting to this.

I may have been lying about nothing happening though. I did go to a casino in gary indiana yesterday, which was a first time for me. It was pretty intimidating at first, and I absolutely hate slot machines and the rooms they are in, but I discovered my deep love for the game of roulette. I left with more money than I came with, so that was nice, but my small victory there was completely overshadowed by the fact that my friend Dan walked away with 400 dollars more than he started with... nicely done. Still, it was a great time, and my winnings bought me a "free" dinner at Carrabbas. Not a bad day's entertainment, given that it cost us a grand total of absolutely nothing.

Well, that's everything for now I suppose. Slainte! agus oiche mhaith

What's to come

Travel Signs is primarily for when I travel or when people I care about are traveling. It's meant as a place for the people I care about to keep in touch with me when I'm too far to see them in person and show them the things I'm doing or talk to them about the things that are on my mind. I originally was going to do this on my personal website (www.nd.edu/~rcarmich), but decided against it, as I wont have that web space forever and it seems like there's a lot of control available for these free blogs. Anyway, most of the posts will be things I'm writing or random musings with occasional personal events interspersed. I love hearing from new people, especially about creative work, mine or theirs. Enjoy.
